The Golden Calf

Dear friends,

one thing I am really wondering about in regards to the Coronavirus global panic is why is everyone in fear of running out of toilet paper?
Who sowed that particular fear?
I mean, if diarrhea was one of the symptoms, but since it’s not, why is toilet paper the object most sought after?
Why not soap since we are supposed to wash our hands a lot?
You can still buy soap everywhere but toilet paper is scarce…

Do you have an explanation for that?

Me, all I can come up with is that it is a bit of a metaphor… of how irrational fear is and of how powerless we truly are when it comes to planning the future and what may or may not happen – because we simply do not know and cannot control any of it.

Only GOD can do that.

And yes, it is not a comfortable idea that nothing, absolutely nothing is in our hands.

And yet, it is always the case.

Nothing has changed.

There have always been pandemics, wars, nature catastrophes, illnesses in our lives.

This fear is irrational, because it is made – by the devil.

And he also wants to fool us into believing that we are the ones who could prevent the catastrophe – by buying enough of this and doing that, vaccines, medication, hand sanitizer…

Lie!

Even the fear of death.

Why would we be afraid to die when we know we all have to one day, somehow???

Does that make sense to YOU, my friend?

I mean, if we survive the virus, we still have to die one day, don’t we?

I don’t really get all the panic – I must even admit to you that I, too, bought a jumbo pack of toilet paper the other day… I was in the supermarket early and wanted to do my ‘normal’ shopping, I was quite early in the morning, not deliberately, just because it was the best time for me to do my shopping on that particular day… and when I was there, I somehow got infected by the toilet-paper-panic-virus and I, too, bought one… I was laughing at myself later…

But I think this is significant for how it works with the fear that the enemy sows in us.

And the churches.

WHY ON EARTH are they closing?
On WHAT ground?
WHERE is their faith??
Do they believe God cannot protect HIS people when they come to HIS house to worship HIM???

At work, the panic is omnipresent as well…
I know I should have compassion and use it as an open door for evangelism, which I do often times and sometimes, it also gets on my nerves… my manager noticed though, she said to me the other day that she had the impression that I was the only one who isn’t panicking over the virus, and I replied:

‘I don’t believe in a virus, I believe in GOD.’

She looked at me… and I think she knew what I meant… even though I don’t think she is a believer, but in that moment, I saw in her face that she wished she had what I have.

Honestly, friends, who do you think decides when you have to go?

A hand sanitizer?

Or OUR FATHER, who formed you in your mother’s womb? Who loves you and has a plan for you…?

Do you believe in Corona or in JESUS CHRIST???

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, you can give your life to Him right here and right now by saying this simple prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge and confess that I have not lived my life for YOU to this day, but have been living for myself and in sin and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need YOU in my life; I want YOU in my life.
I recognize the completed work of YOUR only begotten Son JESUS CHRIST in giving HIS life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart JESUS is LORD and that HE was raised from the dead and ask for YOUR forgiveness, which YOU have made freely available to me through this sacrifice.

My friend, brother or sister, we are children of GOD and Psalm 91 says what will happen to us during this crisis, it is ‘the pestilence’ mentioned in this psalm and the solution is there, too:
A thousand shall fall at our side hand and 10000 at our right hand: but it shall not come nigh us.
