Dear friends,
has GOD ever promised you something?
If you have been born again and have walked with HIM for a while, I am assuming HE has.
What was it?
And how did you know that this was HIS promise for YOU personally?
Or do you believe that all of HIS promises are for all of us?
However GOD’s promises are classified or delivered or perceived to be ours personally, as believers, we believe in them or some of them or all of them – for instance, there is one which we most likely ALL believe in and all believe that it is for all of us:
eternal life.
Isn’t it?
I don’t think you will find many Christians who won’t believe that they have eternal life?
And then, some of us don’t have all the blessings of Abraham – at least not during the entire time of our lives:
Deuteronomy 28: 1- 13
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
And even though we may not have all of these blessings during all of our life, we still have some of them and we still believe…
So this must mean that some blessings are for us and some aren’t.
Right?
Look at Job, for instance.
GOD allowed the devil to tempt him and he still believed and then, he received double.
And then there are things GOD promised to individuals.
Abraham for instance.
HE promised him that he would be the father of many nations.
And yet, Abraham was very old.
And Abraham believed GOD.
But his wife, Sarah, was old, too, and past the child bearing age… and she didn’t believe that it would still happen… at least not enough to not suggest a “plan B”… and still, GOD fulfilled HIS promise and Isaac came when Abraham was 100 and Sarah 91 years old.
Even though people lived longer in the Old Testament Days, that was still OLD.
And yet, GOD fulfilled HIS promise!
So back to us, to the present – HE still is the same GOD, today, yesterday and forever, HE never changes.
So HIS promises must still be organized in the same way – right?
Some for all of us and then, the individual ones…
And I don’t know how you received yours from HIM?
Me, I would say, it can happen in many ways, during a sermon, when I just KNOW that this was for ME – or when I read the bible and something stands out… or I sometimes even hear HIM…
One time, I cried out to GOD, I don’t know exactly when it was, I think it was shortly after I came to live where I live now…
And then, after my prayer – which had been heartfelt and I was asking HIM to heal some old pain – I did some research on the internet about inspiring and encouraging scriptures (I have often received guidance from GOD via the internet!) and there it was:
MY PROMISE!!!
AS IF IT WAS TRUMPETED TO ME!!!
Joel 2: 25-26
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
I felt peace.
And I cried and cried and cried… cleansing tears… afterwards, I felt a lot better, relieved. And I knew, HE would.
Restore me all the years I had lost because of this terrible darkness I was encompassed by.
Today, I looked back….
And I realized that HE had fulfilled HIS promise – when HE made the promise, that was almost 2 years ago, a little less…
When I compare my life today with the life I had before the darkest period of my life began, I must say, I am younger now than I was then.
And when I look at the timeline from the promise until today, it seems as if HE had restored area by area of my life, had eliminated the pain and the hurt and built something new, better than ever, something so good I wouldn’t even have been able to imagine it or ask for it.
Better than soooo many years ago.
And some of it is absolutely “unappropriate” and extremely unusual for my current biological age. VERY unusual. They are things people who literally are at least 15 years younger than me will experience… probably more 20 than 15 years… so HE restored me actually more than double of the years.
I know it sounds crazy – or maybe to some of you, it doesn’t?
Maybe you even know what it’s like when HE restores you a “lost” time in your life – and when HE doesn’t care the slightest bit about how old you are in your passport, because HE is GOD and HE decides what your life is going to be like and when, and not your biological age…
Do you know what I mean?
Have you had a similar experience maybe?
Well if you have, you will know how AMAZING it is to receive years back from GOD.
I don’t want to brag or tell too much from my own life (perhaps another time :-)) but I just wanted to invite you to ponder and look back on the promises HE gave YOU.
Isn’t it WONDERFUL to see how HE keeps them?
Not only that HE keeps them in the first place – but also HOW?
In ways we would have never been able to imagine or even dream of…
HE is truly a miracle worker.
And worthy of our praise.
HALLELUJAH!!!
PRAISE THE LORD!
Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.
Psalm 146
Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.
2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:
8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:
9 The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.
Dear friend, would you share with us when HE has kept a promise HE made you?
I hope and pray that this will inspire, bless and heal you. And that THE LORD will bless you abundantly in all areas of your life, that HE will keep you and shine HIS face upon you and bring you peace. In JESUS’ name I pray. AMEN.
