To become someone

Dear friends,

what is it that drives us to want and to do our best to make money, have a career, get to the top?

We want to become someone.

Someone people look up to.

Someone people respect.

Someone who’s voice will be heard, who’s face will be seen…

We are longing for fame, wealth, sex, the so called “good life”, love, happiness.

What we do not know is that these things are nothing.

That they can never satisfy us.

I will prove it to you:

have you ever wanted something, an item, a gadget maybe or a piece of clothing that you couldn’t really afford or perhaps a car or a house – try to think of something you actually DID get at some point… perhaps you had to save up for it, take a loan for it, beg your parents or your spouse to buy it for you – and they did.

And then what?

Did you live happily ever after without wanting anything else ever again?

Of course not.

It didn’t take long and you wanted the next thing.

Am I right?

It’s true, I know it’s true.

And it’s true for everybody.

It doesn’t mean that you are a bad person – or any of us – and it also doesn’t mean that we need to work harder to become even richer to be able to buy the next thing…

That’s not what it means.

It means that these things or even feelings can NOT satisfy us.

An image coming from people, a persona we have built for people to believe, is not permanent, is not real and will never make us somebody.

Actually, this is not even what we are truly looking for!

What we ARE truly looking for, what ALL OF US are truly looking for, knowingly or unknowingly – is love.
Not cheap love, love that is temporary, love that will fade or cease when xy or z happens, NO, ETERNAL LOVE, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, LOVE that will fill the hole in us, that will ease us that will fulfill us and comfort us and make us whole.

PEACE.
The PEACE of CHRIST.
The peace which surpasses all understanding.
The peace we can only get from HIM, from JESUS.

NO house, no car, no fame, no friends, no exotic travels, no villa, not even a spouse, not even the hottest, sexiest, kindest, funniest, most loving, caring, best husband or wife on earth could fulfill this desire.

We think they can.

But they can’t.

It’s a lie.

It’s only what the devil wants us to believe… and HE can NEVER give us what we are looking for.

Because what we are looking for is GOD.

HE is the only one we will ever know who is somebody. HE IS THE ALPHA and THE OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE END, THE ANCIENT OF DAYS, JEHOVA, THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB, THE GOD OF ISRAEL, YAHWEE, THE GREAT I AM…

And only in HIM and through HIM can we become someone.

And not just someone.

ROYALTY! A DAUGHTER OR SON OF THE KING OF KINGS.

SAINTS.

A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD.

FORGIVEN.

A PECULIAR PEOPLE.

THE APPLE OF HIS EYE.

A BRANCH OF THE TRUE VINE.

A FRIEND OF JESUS.

A NEW CREATURE.

JUSTIFIED.

REDEEMED.

SANCTIFIED.

HOLY.

NO LONGER A SLAVE, BUT A CHILD AND AN HEIR

FREE, FREE INDEED

CHOSEN, HOLY, BLAMELESS

SEATED IN HEAVENLY PLACES WITH CHRIST

CITIZENS OF HEAVEN

CHOSEN.

That’s what and who we are, whom we have become… when HE saved us.

And look at those who “are someone” in the world, none of them has what WE have, is who WE are.

I sometimes forget that.

And when I remember, I repent and ask MY FATHER to forgive me.

Because I am someone.

I have a FATHER who loves me.

Eternally.

Unconditionally.

These people do not have that.
All they have is fake, money and lies….

My heart goes out to them when I see them, when I watch their emptiness, I feel for them… and I don’t only mean celebrities, but also people like you and me, just carnal, worldly people, people who think they have to achieve and strive and labour for human approval and affection and recognition…

I feel for them and I love them.

Not from a high horse.

Because sometimes, when I forget WHO I AM, I become one of them, lose who I am, become a nobody… become that nobody and that nothing that I am without HIM.

The quicker I can remember the better!

I know who I am!
