Dear friends,
would you like to know which words I consider the most powerful words that I have ever heard in my entire life?
Well, you may have guessed it, they are in the bible.
And they may not be “your” most powerful words you have ever heard, perhaps not even if you are a Christian as well, because there are many “most powerful words” in this book, in fact, it is a supernatural book and not only the words in there, but also reading it gives us power, don’t you think?
Also, it may be that they are not my most powerful words of all times, because I may be in a different situation in the future, there may be something going on and I will need GOD’s help, and then, another passage may speak to me like never before – in fact, I even believe that this will most likely happen – as I recall my most powerful words were probably different scriptures a while ago than they are now.
So, before I tell you what they are, I want to ask you:
do you recall yours?
Currently or in the past, did you have a very empowering and encouraging scripture in mind, something you came back to often, something you meditated on, a “word” which gave you strength, hope and also a passage from the bible which you believe was put in there just for you?
There are the classic ones we all love and we all get courage and hope from, there are of course the stories about the miracles JESUS performed and about the people who got healed or even raised from the dead – not only JESUS HIMSELF, but also Lazarus and the little girl, Jairus’ daughter (I don’t believe her name was mentioned in the bible?) from Capernaun… and then the accounts in the Old Testament when GOD helped HIS people to win battles or when HE showed up for them, for Moses, for Job, for Abraham, for Joseph, for Samson, for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (perhaps my favorite story in the bible!!), when HE walked through the fire with them and delivered them, for Daniel when he was in the lion’s den and numerous times for David… or in the Psalms, where we find so much that can encourage us and strengthen us and give us hope in times of despair…
Did I find it, did I mention the place where your favourite empowering scripture can be found?
Mine is in the list above, at least the person who said it is.
It was King David.
He was obviously great with words as many of the psalms were written by him.
And the passage which hit me, healed me, struck me and delivered me and touched me so deeply was what he said to Goliath before he killed him:
1 Samuel 17:45-46
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
Not only did this man have many weapons.
He was also a giant.
And yet, David’s mission was from GOD.
There is no need to say any more than David did.
He really nailed it!
And I know that I am not the only one who has ever had to face an enemy who was much bigger, much stronger, much more experienced in battle than I was.
I know that I am not the only one who ever had to fight a battle which I seemed to have lost before I even got there.
I know there are many Goliathes out there scorning the Davids standing before them. Laughing at them, taunting them…
And we, the Davids, we are standing before them and we’re not even properly armed or trained, let alone experienced.
Coming from the places where we have looked after the sheep, knowing nothing about war…
And yet, when our mission is from GOD, there is absolutely nothing that any giant could do against us – not even the devil himself can defeat someone who comes in the name of The Lord of hosts.
And this is a fact.
I know that this is absolutely true.
And many of you will agree with me.
Perhaps not many of you have had to fight against the devil and demons and witches and satanists, but I know that many, if not all of you have had to fight some fights in your lives, have had to fight against something or someone much bigger than yourself.
Am I right?
What can you do when the battle chooses you?
Most of the times, we will be finding ourselves in situations we would have never chosen, but at the same time, we have no choice other than to fight.
I like how it is described in this chapter, because it gives an account of how David HAD TO volunteer, how he had no other choice, and also of how the HOLY SPIRIT drew him there and how HE will draw us there, how GOD will prepare us – just as HE prepared David.
HE won’t let us go into a battle we will lose!
Only those battles we go into without HIM or without asking HIM – these are the ones we will lose, not the ones HE sends us into!
I think this is very important to understand.
Not everybody can fight every battle.
And not even every David can fight every Goliath.
When we are children of GOD, that doesn’t mean that we are invincible.
Sometimes HE will even let us be defeated, so that we would learn something.
So that HE can train us up for the greater plans HE has for us… and I believe this is where many of us fall away from HIM and get frustrated and fail GOD and ourselves and our destiny…
But if we really understand this and hold on to it, very tightly, then we simply MUST be victorious.
This was the battle GOD had prepared David for when HE let him defeat a lion and a bear while he was a shepherd.
Not that he used the same weapon as he did against Goliath, but e had also learned to use the weapons he was used to and also this previous experience, this “training” had given him confidence.
Not that I have ever even faced a lion or a bear closely, but I can imagine when you have defeated both of them and killed them with your bare hands, it can become more likely in your mind that you can defeat a giant as well.
Other than never having fought against anything or anyone bigger and stronger than you, or let alone never having fought physically against anyone ever at all…
I understand the concept and I think we all do.
I think when you look at your personal “Goliath”, the giant you have or had to fight against, you will also find out that GOD didn’t let you go into this battle unprepared.
True?
In my case, I had the knowledge both from being a lawyer and a therapist to understand emotional, psychological and spiritual assaults, crimes, violence, aka spiritual warfare… had I not been trained in these fields and most of all, had GOD not shown me the truth so strongly and so clearly, I would have gone mad over this or I would have either killed myself or my attacker…
…and yet, GOD had other plans…
And that’s what David was saying, what GOD is saying in HIS word… and what I am saying to my enemies and what you can say to yours as well:
“But I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom though hast defied. This day will THE LORD deliver thee into mine hand…….that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”
And in verse 47 it goes on:
And all this assembly shall know that THE LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.
In other words:
it is settled.
It is a done deal.
Over.
No more discussions or questions.
Period.
For me, that’s pure power and authority speaking or having spoken.
An utterance which leaves no room for doubt.
Strength, Victory.
Not like the lies and the snares of the enemy – he needs many words to deceive…and many agents and many weapons…
Not so OUR GOD.
HE WINS.
Against anyone and anything.
And so will we when we are sent by HIM.

I pray that we will all win against the giant in our life, in JESUS’ name, for the battle is THE LORD’s.
