I had a dream…

Dear friends,

I attended a workshop yesterday, it was called “Prophetic School of Ministry – interpreting dreams and visions”.

Interesting, huh?

Well, at least for me it was.

Not so much as I wanted to learn how to receive prophecies.
That is in fact a very peculiar issue for me and I have been doing a lot to actually AVOID receiving them.

Now you may think I am crazy…?

But if you consider my past before I got saved, I was a medium… divining… talking to all kinds of evil spirits and not even knowing I was doing just that… letting them into my spirit, my body and getting into serious spiritual trouble through these sins!
Perhaps when you consider / remember that, you will understand that I have been cautious and hesitant to receive “prophecies” or to even spend time trying to…

Because they are so often false and not coming from GOD, even in the church, even when handled by experienced, sincere and true people of GOD… the enemy is very, very good at deceiving!

So what I did, I asked GOD and prayed that HE would take this gift which the enemy had given me away… in fact, I asked HIM to take ALL supernatural “gifts” which I had received away…
I was able to “read” people, I knew what they were thinking, I knew their past and illnesses, even sometimes names of their loved ones (names I had never been told before!) – and all that didn’t come from GOD and that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what the enemy had “gifted” me with…
When I got saved and discovered that all these things are demonic, of course, more than anything did I want to get rid of all this and I decided to not only ask GOD to take it all away from me and cleanse me from it, but also did I stay away from anything that would even be close to a supernatural message for a long time – more than 3 years to be precise… even more surprised was I when MY FATHER told me to go to this workshop.

For me, it was a fun day!

I had a ball and the interpretations of other people’s dreams came to me easily, I did think that my past was helpful, because my “hearing skills” or my ability to see in the spirit realm had already been developed. Plus, being a former hypnotherapist, I am familiar with and able to understand metaphors and parables, since they are what hypnosis works with the most…
I learned yesterday that GOD had only let me keep the abilities to suit HIS purposes and HE gave me confirmation that it would be safe for me to use them and that HE would only let me use them for HIS glory.
When we did the group exercises, I “happened” to be in the same group as the leading prophetess of this church holding the workshop (may become my new church by the way, I am quite positively impressed with them!)  – and we were very similar with our interpretations.
Then, when they interpreted my dream, a dream which I had had very often during the past months, at least 8-10 times, THE LORD had given me the interpretation in the morning of the workshop yesterday, but since I had no other dream to give to my group for practise, I decided to tell this one anyhow  – just to compare their interpretation to the one THE LORD had put in my spirit and she, the prophetess, was very, very close to my understanding which I had received a few hours before.
This was a healing, encouraging and reassuring experience for me and I am grateful that my ability to see and hear things in the spirit realm has been cleansed by MY FATHER!

I am sharing this with you to tell you that in my experience, OUR FATHER will teach you what HE wants you to learn and HE will even use what you have learned from the enemy for HIS purposes and for your GOOD…

I now know that whatever I receive is from THE HOLY SPIRIT, or let me say I know the exact difference between what the devil is still telling me – and once he spoke to you, he will never, ever stop and never, ever give up on you and tempt you! – and what MY FATHER is saying.
I am very happy about this.
I was longing to cleanse and sharpen my ability to discern… and it is a relief for me to learn that I don’t have to shut myself and my supernatural senses down in order to protect me from being deceived, I can listen and watch and at the same time, I AM protected from being fooled by the devil and THE HOLY SPIRIT will give me discernment, THANK GOD!!!

But other than sharing my own experience with you, I thought you might enjoy yesterday’s teachings in a nutshell and who knows, there may be some amongst you whom THE LORD wants to teach how to interpret their own and other people’s visions and dreams and this will be your “appetizer” 😉

So first and foremost, you need to know and be aware that not you, but THE HOLY SPIRIT is interpreting the dream.

This is why it is good to do an exercise in a group of believers and to pray for GOD to give you wisdom, understanding and interpretations while you are doing these exercises.

But you can still do it on your own as well.

It is in fact very similar to prayer.

And the most important and at the same time most difficult part is not to get in the way of THE HOLY SPIRIT and listen and not make anything up – it is ok not to hear anything… and that may also be your answer, that you will still not know… and I am assuming that hearing interpretations of dreams and visions is related to how skilled and experienced you are in hearing from GOD… because basically, asking GOD to reveal the meaning of a dream or a vision to you is like praying for wisdom and understanding or a word of knowledge…

Still, there are a few aspects which you might find beneficial in order to support you:

First of all, you could – if you have not done so already – familiarize yourself with the different ways GOD speaks to us, and if you are serious about learning, you can even study the scriptures I put there for you and GOD will surely teach you what you want to learn in JESUS’ name:

• HIS WORD (Matthew 24:35)
• Our conscience (Romans 2:14)
• Legitimate authority (Romans 13:1)
• Wisdom (Proverbs 9:10)
• Preaching or teaching GOD’s WORD (Romans 10:14)
• Other people (Exodus 18:19) – by the way, GOD speaks to believers and unbelievers and HE can speak through either to you as well!
• Our circumstances (Psalm 107: 43)
• Nature (Psalm 19:1)

Then the pastor pointed out that personally oriented channels are put in our lives by GOD in order for us to hear HIM, those could be:

• Burdens (Ecclesiastes 3:10)
• The inward witness (Mark 2:8)
• Our desires (Psalm 37:4)
• Study and meditation (Daniel 9:2)
• The voice of THE LORD (Acts 8:29)
• Prophetic utterances (Acts 13:1)
• Manifestations of THE HOLY SPIRIT (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)
• Angels (Acts 8:26)
• Visions (Acts 2:17)
• Dreams (Job 33:14)

Next, you will want to study all about visions and dreams in the bible, not only when people had dreams and visions, but also when GOD or angels appeared to people. Here are just a few scriptures, but it is highly recommended that you do your own research, because THE HOLY SPIRIT will use this to take you to the stories YOU need to read in order to understand and to learn. So here are some of the ones we studied yesterday:

• Numbers 12:6
• Proverbs 29:18
• Acts 9:10-12
• Acts 11:5
• Ecclesiastes 5:7
• Job 33: 14-18
• Joel 2:28
• Acts 2:17
• Genesis 40: 5-22
• Genesis 20:3
• Matthew 2: 1-20
• 1 Thessalonians 5:21
• Acts 18:9-10
• Daniel 2:19
• 1Kings 3:5

Then you will need to remember (or learn) to discern between natural and supernatural dreams and visions.
It may help you to ask the following questions:

1. Does it provoke you to pray and seek GOD?
2. Is there a sense of GOD’s presence in the dream / vision or immediately following?
3. Whilst in the dream, do you have a knowing that this is from GOD?
4. Is it repeated over and over again?
5. Is it symbolic or cryptic?
6. Is scripture spoken or shown in it?
7. Does the dream wake you up abruptly?
8. Does it leave you unsettled?
9. Does it give you a deep sense of peace?
10. Does it keep coming to your mind for days and weeks?

Now, finally, you are prepared to do the first exercise.

Record a dream or vision as accurately as you can – it is recommended you keep a dream journal and have it next to your bed and write down dreams immediately when you wake up, don’t do anything else before you’ve recorded the dream or it will be altered or diffused by your mind or you may loose it completely.

Record everything including possible interpretations and feelings you had in the dream or right after waking up.

Look for symbols and colours and numbers and do research what they mean in the bible(!!!)… and if you don’t know what it means, pray about it and consider to consult other fellow believers and be open to what they can “get” from THE HOLY SPIRIT about it – sometimes, you will have to ask more than one person and you will know that your dream has been fully interpreted when you sense a deep, settling PEACE.
