Adieu, Egyptians!

Dear friends,

it must have been an unforgettable sight, I wish I had been there!

When GOD parted the Red Sea and let the Israelites pass to the other side on dry ground.
It is probably one of the most plastic stories of the bible, one that we can all imagine before our mind’s eye and at the same time can not…

I mean, all of us have been to the beach, haven’t we.

What do you think you would have done if suddenly a path opened in the middle of the waves, a dry path – surely you would have been amazed.

Biologically, it is not even possible, but of course, with GOD, all is possible.

Even more impossible must it have been to imagine for the Israelites what their life would be like in the future, to even fathom and fully understand the promise which GOD gave them in this very moment regarding what would wait for them on the other side:

a life without living in slavery, a life without Egyptians!

Exodus 14: 13 – 14
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

WHAT a PROMISE!!!

Wouldn’t we all love to hear this from GOD?
That we will never, ever see the “Egyptians” in our lives again for ever?
Those who mistreated us, or they may not be persons, but circumstances, another metaphor for a “mountain” – a financial disaster, a career crisis, a betrayal from a loved one – and these, too, can come after us and try to chase us like real persons being right behind us, only in the form of memories, thoughts or pain coming to get us…

And the best thing about this is they can’t get to us any longer – the sea will come back after we passed through, the dry path will close behind us, making it impossible to pursue us!

They will all be gone for good…

Ahhhh what a relief.

Freedom.

And we don’t even have to do anything, GOD will fight for us.

When I imagine how that must have been, being lead from captivity into a life of freedom, I can even feel my own heart fill with gratitude and joy… just from hearing the promise, but then, the evidence followed right after:

Exodus 14: 15 – 31
15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.

They probably needed a while to fully understand that they had been delivered out of slavery.

They probably needed a while to really arrive in and adapt to their new life, not only because they lived in a different place now, but also, many other things had changed and most of all, they were living as free people!

Of course, we all know that it didn’t take them long to forget this unbelievable, incredible miracle (and the other miracles which lead to this point) and start complaining about what they had not yet received from GOD – I think we can all relate to this very human attitude, even though we might believe that we would have stayed in gratitude for the rest of our lives – perhaps yes, perhaps not, we don’t know, because we weren’t there.

If we don’t think we would have been ungrateful so shortly after such a deliverance, we may be right or we may be wrong, but we can still prove it to OUR FATHER today!

Because HE hasn’t changed.
Neither has HIS might and HIS ability to deliver us from the direst circumstances in our lives or from our worst and meanest enemies – and HIS promises are as good as they were many thousand years ago!

Somebody is going to read this, to really hear what GOD is saying and to draw faith from this and THE LORD will deliver you out of Egypt TODAY, right here and right now! Somebody reading this will believe GOD when HE tells them that they will never see the Egyptians anymore, no more for ever!

I know that somebody is me  – how about you, my friend?

Take a leap of faith, ask OUR FATHER to part the Red Sea for you, just as HE has for the Israelites so long ago – and then walk right through to the other side, to freedom, to a new start, to a different place, to new endeavors, to different discoveries and to new joy…

I know I will – who will join me?

I hope and pray that this will inspire, heal and bless you. And that THE LORD will bless you richly in all areas of your life, that HE will keep you and shine HIS face upon you and bring you peace. In JESUS’ name. AMEN.

P.S.: I found this picture online, quoted to be proof for the parting of the Red Sea… if we did some research, I am sure we would find more evidence to strengthen our faith and believe in OUR GOD even more…
