A very present help in trouble

Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Dear friends

I must admit in advance that this story you are about to read will not let me shine in a very bright light and will reveal my sometimes-not-so-clever-side. Or shall I say my sometimes-not-so-patient-and-forward-thinking side, at least not forward-thinking enough.

But so be it to the glory of GOD.

Without whom I could be in a lot of trouble right now.

About 2-3 weeks ago, I noticed a fairly new looking washing machine next to the entrance of my flat, which is also next to the entrance to the basement of the house. I was assuming that someone must have moved out and the landlord must have taken this washing machine out of their flat. The washing machine in my flat is very old and sometimes not working properly, so I thought I’d message him and ask if I could have the one outside my door and he replied I could help myself to it.

So far, so good.

I had connected washing machines before, but not in this country, so I checked out the way the tubes were connected and I thought I could do it.

However, when I started to open the tube where the water enters the machine, I noticed that water started splashing out.
I managed to close it again.
(At least this time I did!)
I tried to find the main valve for the water in my flat, but I couldn’t see it.
I did consider messaging the landlord and asking where it is, but then something (stupid) in me did not want to bother, did not want to wait for his response and did not want to admit that I hadn’t been able to find it myself.

Instead I made a “very clever” plan:
I would move the old machine to the side a bit, the new machine very close to it and then would disconnect the old machine and connect the water tube to the new machine very quickly and only a tiny bit of water would come splashing out.

Now that I am reading it, I can hardly believe it myself any longer, but believe me or not, this was my plan and this was what I did (!!!).

Or tried to do!

I bet you can already imagine what happened:

The water was gushing out and I could neither connect the tube to the new machine, nor was I able to connect it back to the old machine, because the end, where it had been connected inside the old machine, had gotten loose because of the water pressure.

There I was, in my flat, completely unaware of where the main valve was, the tube with the water coming out in one hand, one tiny bowl in my other hand (well equipped for the amount of water I thought we would be dealing with), no clue what to do, unable to go back or forth, nobody near to call for help.

Headed straight into a flood with no end…

WAIT, that’s not true!
I DID have someone to call.
And luckily, I remembered to do so and remembered HIS name!
I called aloud:
“JESUS, I need YOUR help and I need it NOW. Let me connect this tube NOW and let the water stop in JESUS’ name!!!”

And what didn’t work before, I was then able to connect the tube to the new machine in spite of the water pressure. The water stopped coming and thank GOD, there was only some water on the floor which I could dry with towels and the carpet, I was able to dry by leaving the fan on over night…

Friends, I did not tell anyone who knows me offline of this!

Too embarrassing as too stupid of me.

I am only admitting it here for the sake of witnessing to the power of GOD.

It will remain our secret 🙂

But I thought it would be unfair towards GOD and also untrue to the name of my blog if I didn’t share this testimony with you.

I know that it is very unlikely that anyone can connect a tube which is under pressure of running water!
At least now I know – and had I thought about it, I had also realized it before I had made this stupid plan!

But fact is, I was in the middle of a major catastrophe and only calling on the name above all names, the name of JESUS could help me.
HE literally calmed the storm for me and gave me supernatural power to close the valve with water coming.

I am very grateful – and for me, this was a miracle!

Of course, I saw the valve afterwards.

But in the situation, I did not know where it was.

And I had no plan B, only my stupid plan A.

This shows that GOD sometimes rescues us from ourselves.

And HE is real and present and watching over us, preventing disaster coming from our lack of foresightedness, impatience, or failure to take necessary precautions and preparations.

GOD is real friends.

And I owe it all to HIM that I still have all my belongings, clean and dry, do not have to pay a lot of money (which I don’t have) to the other people in the house or to the landlord and even still – according to the original plan – have a much newer, better washing machine – HALLELUJAH!!!

GOD is real and HIS help is supernatural, genius, very practical and immediate.

And I am a living witness.

How about you, my friend, do you have an example like mine when GOD saved you from your own foolishness?

There is one we all have in common – at least if we are not born into a Christian family… those of us who did not always believe in JESUS can all be grateful that HE showed us THE TRUTH and saved us from the lies we once believed, the greatest rescue, our salvation!

And if by any chance you are reading this and you don’t know HIM and HIS blessings and very present help in trouble, you should consider giving your life to HIM today!
JESUS CHRIST came to earth as the SON OF GOD to save us all from the devil. And HIS works are still relevant today, HE is as alive today as he was more than 2000 years ago. And if you are not saved, HE wants to save you today, right here and right now: please don’t stay under the power of the king of darkness, please join us and give your life to THE LORD.
Here is an example of what you can pray in your heart right now, if you want to make JESUS LORD over your life:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge and confess that I have not lived my life for YOU to this day, but have been living for myself and in sin and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need YOU in my life; I want YOU in my life.
I recognize the completed work of YOUR only begotten Son JESUS CHRIST in giving HIS life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart JESUS is LORD and that HE was raised from the dead and ask for YOUR forgiveness, which YOU have made freely available to me through this sacrifice.
Come into my life now, LORD!
Take up residence in my heart and be my KING, my LORD, and my SAVIOUR!
From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow YOU all the days of my life. Those days are in YOUR hands.
I ask this Jesus name.
Amen.”

If you have just prayed this prayer, you are now part of GOD’s kingdom and family and I heartily welcome you, my dear brother or sister!
The next thing to do is get a bible and find a church where you can receive further instructions, so that your new life in THE LORD may prosper and that you will become who HE made you to be.
GOD bless you and if you have any questions or need any assistance, please get in touch.

I hope and pray that this will inspire, encourage, heal and bless you. And that THE LORD will bless you abundantly in all areas of your life, that HE will keep you and shine HIS face upon you and bring you PEACE. In JESUS’ name I pray. AMEN.

  2. Oh Eva, I started shaking my head and saying “no Eva” about the same time as when I read about the very idea of hooking up the newer machine….I know this thought process a little too well. Your experience , thank the Lord, is much better than most of mine.

    1. Literally thank GOD Gary😁
Looking forward to hearing your own flood-stories🤣
Or the one where you survived falling into the lake through the hole in the thin ice?
Or the one where your family survived a plain crash…?!? I believe -from what I read recently on your blog- you have experienced your own share of (perhaps even much more spectacular) miracles where HE rescued you…?
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
GOD bless you my dear brother!

      1. My husband and I are landlords, so I am glad the Lord gave you grace and you survived the ordeal, but I am also pleased that the Lord protected the Landlord’s property and that he didn’t have to file an insurance claim!! 💕
