Can these bones live?

Dear friends,

are you familiar with the account in the bible where GOD made the dead and dry bones live again?

Here is a reminder:

Ezekiel 37: 1-14
1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

What stands out for me is not only that GOD awakened an army of dead men back to life, I mean, that’s so amazing that I don’t even have words to comment….but something else do I find so fascinating about this:

Before every step, before every part of this miracle that GOD performs, HE commands Ezekiel to prophecy, HE even begins the entire process by asking Ezekiel if he believes that these bones can live.

Ezekiel is actually invited to co-create with GOD, to create LIFE and to contribute with 2 things:

  • his prophecies and
  • his faith

I find that so incredibly important as I believe that this process is described in this account in so much detail, step by step literally, for a reason.

And I believe that the reason is to help us understand how it works, how we can actually co-create with GOD, how HE even wants us to create miracles together with HIM, miracles, victory, life…

For me, this is a metaphor, a parable, like many of the accounts in the New Testament when JESUS was speaking in parables – not for us as HE said, but for the unbelievers… I think the accounts in the Old Testament when GOD THE FATHER came from heaven and interacted directly with the saints of the Old Testament, there was no difference – except that HE did them directly and whilst interacting with humans in human form whilst on earth in a male body as JESUS CHRIST.

And yet, the principle is similar if not identical.

In the New Testament miracles, also, GOD often times asks before HE heals someone if they believe, HE is still working with their faith… and I believe that HE is doing the exact same today  – with real people, with people who may or may not be prophets (although the bible says we all are supposed to desire the gift of prophecy, see
1 Corinthians 14:1-32), even with US if we follow the instructions…?

What I also believe is that this account is a metaphor for the might of GOD’s creative power.
And for the meaninglessness of death for us believers.

Especially in these times when people are dying, WE need to remember that death means nothing to GOD.

HE can raise up the dead any time HE wishes to do so – not only with Lazarus and the little daughter of Jairus – even we ourselves can do it!

In fact, for us, the world is upside down, inside out – compared to the world of the unbelievers – for us, LIFE is eternal and death is only temporary – for them, it is the other way round.

GOD can do anything.

If WE want to work with HIM, want HIM to work with us and for us, HE has given us clear instructions – in countless accounts in the bible, it’s all in the book…

What HE has also told us countless times is to not be afraid.

Fear is not for us.

Sing along with me:

I am no longer a slave to fear.
I am a child of GOD.
You split the sea so I could walk right through it, my fears were drowned in perfect love. You rescued me so I could stand and sing: “I am a child of GOD.”

Do not be afraid, my friend, when you see what is happening in the world, what is happening to those who do not know GOD…

We have no reason to be afraid.
We are protected.
We are loved.
We are saved and safe.

No matter what!

GOD is in control.

HE’s got this!

With HIM, there is nothing which could ever happen to us.

If you have not given your life to CHRIST up to this point in your life, my friend, and if you, too want to live under HIS protection and in HIS miracles, please do not wait any longer, the time is NOW.

You can even do it right here and right now, you could say this prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge and confess that I have not lived my life for YOU to this day, but have been living for myself and in sin and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need YOU in my life; I want YOU in my life.
I recognize the completed work of YOUR only begotten Son JESUS CHRIST in giving HIS life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart JESUS is LORD and that HE was raised from the dead and ask for YOUR forgiveness, which YOU have made freely available to me through this sacrifice.
Come into my life now, LORD!
Take up residence in my heart and be my KING, my LORD, and my SAVIOUR!
From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow YOU all the days of my life. Those days are in YOUR hands.
I ask this Jesus name.
Amen.”

If you have just prayed this prayer, you are now part of GOD’s kingdom and family and I heartily welcome you, my dear brother or sister!

The next thing to do is get a bible and find a church where you can receive further instructions, so that your new life in THE LORD may prosper and that you will become who HE made you to be.

GOD bless you and if you have any questions or need any assistance, please get in touch via the contact form on this blog.

I hope and pray that this will inspire, bless and heal you. And that THE LORD will bless you abundantly in all areas of your life, that HE will keep you and shine HIS face upon you and give you peace. In JESUS’ name I pray. AMEN.
