Not by power, not by might…

Zechariah 4:6
“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”

Dear friends,

do you remember who Zerubbabel was?

He was one of the governors of Judah and THE LORD told him that HE had chosen him and would make him as a signet (Haggai 2:23).

The next time the name of Zerubbabel is mentioned is in the next verse:

Zechariah 4:7
Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

What had happened?

They had started to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem and it seemed as if it was almost impossible to complete this task.

GOD assured Zerubbabel through speaking to the prophet Zechariah that he would finish this endeavor during his lifetime and what is so interesting about it is that HE was revealing a spiritual principle here, which is still valid for us today.

And I don’t mean that GOD is omnipotent and can do anything, that’s clear and we understand this from randomly opening the bible and reading any chapter it contains…

What I mean, or shall I say what this vision and the results tell me personally, is that when GOD calls us to do something – we WILL.

And we will complete and accomplish whatever task HE decides to assign to us.

NO MATTER WHAT IT IS.

And we will most likely believe that it is impossible.

From what I have learned by walking with JESUS for a while, it is even likely that HE will create a situation where we can see that it is absolutely impossible for us to come through by our own limited means – before HE will grant us a breakthrough.

Why is that?

Well, as far as I understand with my limitations the way THE LORD wants us to relate to HIM and to worship HIM and to adore HIM – is that HE wants us to understand that EVERYTHING we have, ALL we ARE, own, achieve, gain, conquer – even all we loose and suffer through – is from HIM and that without HIM, we cannot even do anything.

Nothing.

Not even breathe or live or think or talk or walk, let alone do anything greater than that.

From my understanding, HE is waiting for each and every one of us to deeply understand that OUR ENTIRE LIVES, from beginning to end, are from HIM.

And the more we get to know HIM and the more we live and walk with HIM, the deeper HE will teach us this truth.
The more we understand of who HE is, the more obedience, the more submission, the more dependence HE demands and the more worship and adoration HE accepts from us.
The longer and the more intimate our walk with GOD becomes, the bigger are the mountains HE will let us move by faith.

BUT even if we have known HIM for a while and even if we believe everything HE said, before we don’t learn to depend on HIS SPIRIT and understand that only by HIS SPIRIT things are moved and by nothing we could ever do, say or know, before we have not learned this thoroughly, HE will keep teaching us and keep trying us and keep putting us through suffering – until we understand, not only in this specific situation, but understand this as a PRINCIPLE, as a UNIVERSAL TRUTH, that it is only by HIS spirit that obstacles can be removed.

This is true for everybody and every day, regardless if they know HIM or not.

I personally believe that GOD gives everybody on this earth so many opportunities to find HIM, in fact endless ones, as long as they are alive, as long as they are breathing, even the ones who serve the enemy and the mammon or false gods, idols like success or fame – even those people sometimes come to realize that there must be something or someone higher who they owe all their benefits to.
And they, too, have a chance to look for the truth and look for the ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD – in this area, regarding this aspect of our lives, we are all the same, regardless where we live or how our living circumstances are – we can all pray and ask and use our curiosity to find the truth, we don’t even need a bible and can talk to GOD directly and HE will come – every time and to everyone!

Me, I have been in many dire situations and there were many times in my life where I knew that I had come to the end of my tether.

Before I knew GOD, I felt despair and hopelessness many times and for very long periods of time, until I could somehow (probably through GOD, even though I didn’t truly know HIM) gather the strength to try again, to give life one more go… sometimes it took me very, very long and I would even say that I had periods of time in my life when I was merely functioning, not truly living.

EVERYTHING changed when JESUS found me!

Not that I am not facing challenges anymore.

Not at all!

I would even say that the dangers I have been in and the challenges I had to face, the mountains being placed right in front of my face, some of them so huge that I was unable to see the other side or to even see a way around or a pass – had become much bigger after JESUS CHRIST saved my soul.
Some of the obstacles may have been placed there by GOD, some of them by the enemy, some of them by my fleshly nature… and there are still some standing in my way – actually, I don’t believe this will ever change, even though I may want it to…

But only when I realized and truly, truly understood that it is not me who can overcome any of them, but only HE who decides how and when they will become a plain, only since then have any of them moved at all… and the more I understand this, the more they do…

It is not only in this example that we find this desire of OUR FATHER that we should depend on HIM, but it is a very significant one and it helped me to remember and to remind myself of it when I need a mountain in my life to move.

I am still sometimes desperate or impatient or weary – but not to that extent and not for this amount of time, before my spirit will call me back and call me to order, to remember who I am, a daughter of Zion, and that THE LORD comes and that HE will dwell in the midst of me.

Zechariah 2:10
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

I hope this is making sense and is making it easier to understand for someone how to receive help from OUR FATHER. I am not telling you these things from a pulpit or from an attitude of knowing more than you, I am only sharing what I have just learned, sharing it out of love, to spread what I have received and my intention is to share how I came to what I understood in order to help someone else to follow the lines of thinking which THE HOLY SPIRIT has layed out for me and which I found helpful to understand.
