Word Keeper

Dear friends

Do you have a prayer book or a journal where you keep track of GOD’s promises and of what you asked HIM and of HIS answers?

If GOD never answered our prayers, Christianity would just be a fairy tale, now, wouldn’t it?

The bible would just be a story book and the characters in there no more than historical, if not fictional heroes……

Or we could view GOD as a force that may have been around a few thousand years ago – or perhaps the stories would have gotten more miraculous over the centuries when they were written down or more glamorous and glorious with every translation…?

And it is indeed one argument I’ve heard a lot from unbelievers or atheists or New Age Movement Followers, that the bible was written by men and that they changed the story lines when they wrote it down and when it was translated anyway – which they take as an excuse or reason for doubt or unbelief.

Of course the bible was written by men.

As any other historical account.

The scribes were people – in every culture and throughout all topics and religions.

Are we now not going to believe anything that happened in the past because a human being wrote it down????

Of course not.

But the bible is not a history book or a story book.

It’s a supernatural book and it is ALIVE.
IT IS THE WORD OF GOD.

If you ever read the bible with an open heart and mind, you will have noticed that it is not even “just a book” – it is a source of strength, inspiration, wisdom, comfort, healing.
I am sure many of you, if not all of you reading this will have had revelations, visions, will have had the experience of certain words “standing out and speaking to me personally” or will also have remembered something they read in the bible in a “random” situation in their life.

Right?

It is our ” go to” manual for advice and whatever happens – the bible has the answer!

It is timeless and nothing in there ever gets old.

There is only one explanation for this that makes sense: it is truly GOD’s WORD.

There is proof that many things accounted for in the bible truly happened, for instance for JESUS’ life.
Even in other religious writings, they acknowledge that HE lived in Israel at the time and did these miracles – that’s why they consider HIM a prophet.

But we as believers know that there is so much more to it!!!!!

GOD is real and alive and HE still does miracles, HE heals, HE gives advice, HE speaks – if we call on HIM, HE answers us.
As HE said in

Jeremiah 33:3
Call unto me, and I will answer thee,
and shew thee great and mighty things,
which thou knowest not.

Revelations and findings are the least of HIS promises.

Me, I wouldn’t even know how to make decisions anymore if it wasn’t for asking GOD.
Every time I don’t know what to do, I ask HIM and then the answer comes.
In form of a word, through a person who speaks to me, by experiencing HIS PEACE when I consider the alternatives and one will let my spirit rest…..

I must admit I don’t write these down every single time – I probably should!

But I do write my prayer requests down and keep track of them.

I write the date when I asked GOD for the first time, the scripture I stand upon (HIS promise) and the date when GOD answered and the result even if the answer is “no”.

And when I am feeling frustrated or when I feel sorry for myself and try to fool myself into believing that “GOD has never, ever done anything for me”, that HE probably doesn’t love me and has forgotten me, I sometimes remember to look at the requests HE has granted me, I look at them and I am in awe about GOD.
I do the same with the prophecies HE gives me or dreams.
It’s good to write these things down.
We tend to forget them or belittle them in retrospect.
I even try to write down the little hints the HOLY SPIRIT gives me in my everyday life – when I sometimes know something which I cannot truly know and then realise that this knowledge can only come from GOD – I believe acknowledging and remembering these things strengthens our relationship with GOD and helps us hear the gentle voice of THE HOLY SPIRIT more, train our ears to be sensitive enough.

I also believe that this is how we can strengthen our faith.

Because HE said that without faith, it is impossible to please HIM.

And there are things in my book which seem completely impossible and yet, GOD has promised them to me!

And whereas many people would believe if I told them about it that I am very, very foolish to believe that these things will come true.

Me, I believe I would be very foolish NOT to believe they WILL come true.

For me, it’s ALL a package.

ONE concept.

ONE truth.

It’s either ALL true or ALL a lie.

The gospel.

JESUS’ life.

The bible.

HE either is still alive and with us, omnipotent, omnipresent, owning EVERYTHING, able to do WHATEVER, working miracles, healings, making and keeping promises………..

Or not.

And then HE wouldn’t be GOD.

But in MY life, too much has happened which can only mean that GOD is REAL.

Me, I CANNOT believe that they are all lies.

And they way GOD operates, there is no possibility that SOME of what HE said is true and some isn’t.

So for me, believing some of what HE promised me doesn’t make sense.

What is your take on this, my friend?

I hope and pray that this will inspire, encourage, bless and heal you. And that THE LORD will bless you abundantly in all areas of your life; that HE will keep you and shine HIS FACE upon you and bring your PEACE. In JESUS name I pray. AMEN.

I journal…somewhat sparse at times but important things are written down. Insights, events, things beyond the ordinary and time when God has moved in my heart as well as others stories. It’s a good thing to do as my memory bag has holes and leaks.
